Man cited for leaving child in car
A Rush Township man was cited by Tamaqua police on May 28 after his 5- year-old son was left alone in a pick up truck.
Police were dispatched to the Spruce and Hunter street area at 4:29 p.m. after a concerned caller notified the Schuylkill County Communications Center about the child's condition. According to the report, the boy was sweating profusely and his face was red. The caller stated the child had been alone in a white Ford pick up truck for between 15 and 20 minutes.
A records check indicated the truck is owned by John F. Sprenkle, 38, of 7 John St., Tamaqua R.D. Sprenkle told the officer he had left the child in the truck for a short time while he secured a building he owns in the area.
The officer cited Sprenkle for child endangerment.
