Graduates from the University of New Haven
Mariana Zahora, daughter of Bill and Gail Zahora of West Penn Township, was one of 581 students to graduate from the University of New Haven, West Haven, Conn., during the 87 commencement exercises, held May 16. A cum laude graduate, she received a bachelor of science degree from the university's college of business in the field of Accounting.
She was also donned with two Experienced LIFE stoles: purple, to reflect learning through Faculty Mentored Research; and green, for Immersion through Work Integrated Learning. A 2006 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Zahora was named to the Dean's List for the Spring semester, earning a 3.92 grade point average. While at UNH, she was a member of the Women's tennis Team; an Academic All Star; an accounting/economics tutor; secretary of the Accounting Society; and a member of the Iota Mu chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority.
She is the granddaughter of the late Bill and Fran Zahora of Coaldale and the late Nello and Thelma Assalita of Reynolds.
