Marian golfers pull off sweep

Marian's golf team came away with three wins, while Panther Valley and Palmerton also both scored victories on Thursday.

GOLF

Northwestern-Saucon Valley-Bangor

Bangor, Saucon Valley and Northwestern each had a golfer shoot in the 70s, however the Slaters had two and went on to win both matches.

James Lobb and Stani Schiavone each fired a five-over 77 en route to the victory.

The Tigers were led by Nick Vebellio's 79. Teammate Cole Miller chipped in with an 83.

Blue Mountain had all four of its top scorers shoot under 82 and went on to defeat Tamaqua, 318-410 in Schuylkill League golf action.

Ryan Laudeman was the low-man on the day with a four-over 76.

Steve Christ led the locals with a 97.

Marian

Local golf teams Marian, Panther Valley and Weatherly competed in a quad-match Thursday afternoon.

The Colts led the way and went 3-0 on the day. Brandon Dopira was the medalist of the match, as he finished with an 83. Teammates Josh Green (85) and Nick Kweder (88) also shot under 90.

Panther Valley went 1-1. Matt Tucker led the Panthers with an 85. Scott Nevenglosky and Kory Lopata each shot 94s.

Robert Adams led the Wreckers with a 108.

Wilson was able to knock off both Palmerton and Salisbury, but the Bombers picked up their first win of the season over the Falcons.

Palmerton's Ben Andrews took medalist honors on the day with a 72.
