Completes Air Force basic military training

Air Force Airman 1st Class Mark A. West graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Claude and Winifred West of N. Second St., Lehighton.

West graduated in 2004 from Carbon County Vocational Tech High School, Jim Thorpe, and received an associate degree in 2008 from Lehigh Carbon Community College, Schnecksville.
