Guardsman of the Year

Staff Sgt. Adam R. Mundy, 266th Range Squadron, Gowen Field ANG in Mountain Home, Idaho has been named the Idaho Guardsman of the Year Award for 2009-2010. He was presented with the award on Oct. 29.

Staff Sgt. Mundy is the son of Kathleen Mundy-McGeehan, Tamaqua, and the late Robert L. Mundy. He has been in the military since 2002.

He is married to Staff Sgt. Morgan Craig-Mundy, who is also stationed at Gowen Field and works for the Idaho National Guard with the Counter Drug Department.

Staff Sgt. Mundy is a 2002 graduate of Seminole High School in Sanford, Fla. He is also graduated as valedictorian of his class at DeVry University with a 4.0 GPA, earning a bachelor of science in management. He will graduate from American Military University in May of 2011 with a master of art in management with a concentration of organizational leadership. He currently maintains a 4.0 GPA.

He also has two associate's degrees; one in aviation and one in electronic systems technology.

Staff Sgt. Mundy works for the Idaho National Guard as a ground radar technician. He was transferred from Willow Grove Air Base in Montgomery County, where his job title was crew chief for the A-10.
