N.J. man jailed for Carbon assault
A New Jersey resident was jailed on Wednesday, June 29, on a charge of simple assault for an incident in Carbon County.
State police at Lehighton said the incident occurred in the area of 1015 Drift Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, about 6:15 p.m. At that location and time Freddie M Knight, 37, of Palmertion, and George Thomas Housell, 53, of West New York, were involved in a verbal altercation. The incident turned physical when Housell allegedly struck Knight in the face several times with a closed fist.
Housell was taken into custody and arraigned before duty District Judge Joseph Homanko, of Weatherly, and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning in lieu of $2,500 cash bail.
