Arrests made at Lehigh checkpoint

Lehigh Township police in Northampton County reported on several driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made at a sobriety checkpoint conducted on June 26.

Cited for DUI were Sean Whiting, 36, of Whitehall, who had a 21BAC; Nicole Benninger, 38, of Walnutport, who had a .12BAC; Meghan Depaolo, 34, of Bethlehem, who had a 12BAC; and David Neff Jr. 20, of Allentown, who had a controlled substance in his system.

Police reported a total of 579 vehicles were contacted during the operation with 14 traffic citations issued and nine drivers detained for testing.

Police departments participating with Lehigh Twp. officers were from Colonial Regional, Bushkill Twp., Pen Argyl, Plainfield Twp., Stockertown; Nazareth, Bangor, Upper Nazareth, Moore Twp., Walnutport, and Lehigh Township Fire Co. Also utilized was a drug recognition expert to detect people under the influence of illegal or prescription drugs.
