DUI arrests
State police at Lehighton reported on several driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by troopers recently, including one stemming from a crash.
The crash occurred about 4:30 p.m. on July 6 along SR209 at Don's Golf Cart, in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Jan P. Racavich, 54, of Kunkletown, was driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am northbound when his vehicle sideswiped a 1996 Cadillac Deville, which was parked along the east shoulder of the road. The right front of the Pontiac struck the left rear of the Deville.
Two passengers with Racavich, Susan Williams, 47, and Cayla Williams, 15, sustained minor injuries in the crash while a third passenger, Cassandra Williams, 8, was not injured as was Racavich.
Troopers said Racavich was suspect to be driving under the influence and was transported to the Palmerton hospital where he submitted to a blood test. The DUI charge will be filed, troopers said.
On July 2 about 11:07 p.m. troopers stopped Chris Guy Romano, 33, of Kunkletown, along Green St. near Pohopoco Drive, in Franklin Township, Carbon County, for several motor vehicle code violations. It was determined that Romano was under the influence of a controlled substance and was placed under arrest. The DUI charge is pending test results, troopers said.
On July 3 about 12:11 a.m. troopers stopped Bobbi-Jo Hunsicker, 32, of Lehighton, along Canal St., in Franklin Township, operating a 1989 Dodge Ram truck for traffic violations. She was found to be under the influence and plaed under arrest for DUI. The DUI charge is pending test results, troopers added.
On July 8 about 10:01 p.m. troopers stopped Kenneth Hargrove, 21, of Effort, operating a 2003 Volkswagen along SR534 at Jonas Rd., in Polk Township, Monroe County, for an equipment violation. He was found to be under the influence and placed under arrest. The DUI charge is pending test results, troopers said.
On July 10 about 11:47 p.m. troopers stopped Michael B. Keiper, 33, of Kresgeville, driving a 1991 Dodge Spirit along SR209 in the area of SR534, in Polk Township, for multiple lane violations. He was found to be under the influence and using his cell phone. Troopers said Keiper will be charged.
