Rear-end type crash in Schuylkill
No one was injured in a rear-end type crash that occurred about 12:28 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, along SR61 in West Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Chad B. Himmelberger, 32, of Port Clinton, and Janet H. Goetz, 66, of Schuylkill Haven, were in the left lane approching the intersection with Coal Mountain Road while northbound. Another vehicle stopped in the left lane to turn east.
Troopers said Himmelberger was unable to stop and his 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue hit the rear of Goetz's 2004 Hyundai XG350 in the rear. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Troopers cited Himmelberger for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
Troopers also reported investigating a crash about 6:55 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, at the intersection of SR901 and SR4020, in Barry Township. Troopers said William B. Koenig, 57, of Hegins, was driving a 1994 Ford Ranger truck southbound on 4020 and stopped for a stop sign at the intersection. Koenig then pulled into the intersection and directly into the path of a eastbound 2006 Volkswagen Rabbit driven by Teesi R. Griffith, 42, of Red Lion, York County. Griffith swerved to the right to avoid a collision but could not with the left front of her car striking the passenger side of the Ranger.
No one was injured in the crash. Troopers cited Koenig for stop signs and yield signs.
