A Schuylkill County bar has been charged by the Liquor Control Board for serving a visibly intoxicated patron and for using a loudspeaker to play music.

According to the LCB report, Freddy's Pub, LLC of 14-16 Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua, sold or permitted the sale of alcoholic beverages to one visibly intoxicated male patron on April 2. The establishment also violated LCB Regulations section 5.32(a), using or permitting to be used on the inside of a licensed premise, a loudspeaker or similar device whereby the sound of music or other entertainment, or the advertisement thereof, could be heard outside. It occurred on April 4 and 15.

The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses, up to $5,000 for more serious offenses.

In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation based on the severity of the charges. The judge can also mandate training for the licensee in an effort to educate them on the requirements of being a licensee.
