Luzerne driver facing DUI count

A Luzerne County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred on July 10 about 1:47 a.m.

Pocono Mountain Regional police stopped a vehicle along SR611 near the Mt. Pocono airport for a faulty registration light and erratic driving. The driver was identified as Tara Whitmire, 27, of Mountain Top. Alcohol was detected coming from Whtimire. She failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DUI. She was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test, processed and then released to the custody of a friend.

Charges will be filed, police said.
