Hartung HR lifts West
Connor Hartung of Tamaqua belted a three-run home run in the top of the seventh to rally the West All-Stars to a 10-9, seven inning victory over the East in the annual Panther Valley Little League Tournament 11-12 year-old East-West game Friday night at Jim Thorpe.
The game pitted players from Tamaqua Blue and Lansford on the West squad and Franklin Township and Jim Thorpe Red on the East team.
Trailing 9-5 entering the seventh inning, the West rallied back with five-runs, with Hartung's blast proving to be the deciding blow.
Hartung also crushed a two-run homer to finish at 2-for-4 with two roundtrippers and five RBI.
Also for the West, Lansford's Nick Mazzie doubled .
For the East, Wyatt Clements of Franklin Township was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and K.J. Snerr of Jim Thorpe also went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Ryan Malarkey of Thorpe added two hits.
Matt Minchhoff picked up the mound win for the East and Snerr was tagged with the loss.
No playoff in 11-12
If Tamaqua Blue wins its make-up game at Towamensing this afternoon at 3 p.m., the regular season standings will end in a three-way tie between Tamaqua, Franklin Township and Jim Thorpe Red, all with 4-1 records.
Traditionally, the Panther Valley Tournament attempts to break all ties on the field with playoffs as necessary. Attempts to schedule tiebreaking playoffs for this season have been unsuccessful, due to the unavailability of players because of other commitments.
At this point, no playoff games will be scheduled.

9-10 Tournament
Tamaqua Blue defeated Tamaqua White 12-1 Friday night in the PVLL 9-10 Tournament.
Heading into tonight's final round of regular play, Franklin Township White is unbeaten at 5-0, followed by Tamaqua Blue at 5-1 and Towamensing at 4-1.
Should Franklin Township White win this evening at Towamensing, it will be crowned as 9-10 champion. If Towamensing wins, there will be a three-way tie in the standings. Plans for a tiebreaking playoff series will then be determined, pending availability of the teams.
