A New Jersey motorcyclist was injured in an accident in Monroe County that occurred about 11:07 a.m. on Sunday, July 18, at the intersection of Interstate 80 and SR115, in Tobyhanna Township.

State police at Fern Ridge said Alan A. Richter, 58, of Edison, was driving a 1999 Harley-Davidson westbound with a pack of other cyclists when he observed them slowing down in front of him. He applied his brakes and lost control of the bike laying it down. He was thrown from the bike onto the roadway.

Richter, who was wearing a helmet, was injured and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by Pocono Regional ambulance.

Troopers also reported investigating a crash about 5:30 a.m. on Friday, July 16, along McKinley Lane, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Dante K. Law, 19, of Albrightsville, was driving a 2005 Hyundai Sonata southbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. He lost control of the vehicle when he swerved to avoid the deer, troopers said. The car struck a utility pole located on the south berm.

Law was not injured.
