Driver facing DUI count in Monroe

A Lackawanna County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said on Sunday, July 25, about 2:22 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle along SR196 in Coolbaugh Township for a vehicle code violation. The driver was identified as Dean Johnson, 51, of Spring Brook Township. Officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Johnson. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.

The DUI charge is pending the test results.
