Cited for careless driving after accident

A 16-year-old female is being cited for careless driving following a one-car accident at 4 p.m. Monday in Mahoning Township.

Chief of Police Ken Barnes said the accident happened in the vicinity of 744 Troxells Road. A vehicle driven by a 16-year -old female from the 100 block of Creekside Manor Drive, Lehighton, failed to negotiate a curve, drove off of the roadway, struck a fence and struck two poles.

Police said the car left 105 feet of skid marks on the roadway and then continued another 230 feet on grass before coming to a final rest.

There were four other juvenile passengers in the car. Four of the five occupants were transported to a Hospital for injuries sustained.
