Official visit
The West End Rotary Club will welcome Rotary District Governor Bob Wehe and AG John Davis at its Aug. 12 club meeting. That will be the official club visit by the Rotary District leadership.
The club meets for breakfast at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville at 7:30 a.m. Thursday mornings.
School board
The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, at the district office in Brodheadsville.
Geocaching event
West End Park and Open Space Commission will offer a free Geocaching Workshop and High Tech Treasure Hunt on Saturday, Aug. 14.
Participants should meet at the Chestnuthill Park, Rt. 715, Brodheadsville at 9 a.m. Learn how to use a hand-held GPS unit and go on a geocache trek in the Chestnuthill, Ross Township and the West End Regional parks.

Backpack blessing
During all Masses at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Gilbert Aug. 14-15 there will be a special blessing of backpacks and gifts for all Our Lady Queen of Peace collegee students.
Lions Club
The Western Pocono Lions Club will hold its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the Hamilton in Saylorsburg. Social time begins at 6:30 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m. Cindy Rodenbough will be inducted as the newest member of the club. The program for the evening will be provided by Tammy Graeber who will speak about The Garden of Giving, a charitable organization that grows crops to be distributed through the West End food pantries. The club will also be present at the West End Fair for the entire week of Aug. 23-28, at their booth "The Front Porch," near the fair game and ride area.

Chestnuthill Seniors
Cindi Starner, from the Center for Vision Loss, will present the program on See for Yourself-Vision & Older Adults, at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 25, at the Chestnuthill Senior Center in Brodheadsville.

Sunday School classes for all ages will begin on Sept. 12 at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville
Pocono Parkinson's
The next meeting of the Pocono Parkinson's group will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the Loder building. Chiropractic and You will be presented by Lorraine Alexis, DC. The program is open to the public and free of charge.

Help needed
Women's Resources of Monroe County needs volunteers for hot line counselors to provide support that victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault need. Counselors are needed for the 24-hour crisis hot line from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. No previous experience required, only a desire to help others.
