A Monroe County man was jailed this week after he allegedly assaulted a state police trooper and a juvenile. State police at Lehighton said the incident occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 3, about 2:55 p.m. and began along White Birch Lane, in the Eldo Lakes development in Polk Township. Troopers gave the following account of the incident.

Troopers said Francisco Delarosa, 33, of Saylorsburg, confronted three juveniles, two 15 and one 14, regarding allegations they allegedly made against him. The three became frightened and ran from Delarosa, who pursued them on a bicycle through yards and several residences along White Birch Lane.

Troopers said Delarosa eventually caught one of the 15-year-olds and ripped his shirt, punched him in the chest, pushed him against a tree and held a pocket knife to his chest. All of the juveniles managed to escape the area while Delarosa returned to his home.

Later Trooper Walsh arrived on scene and contacted Delarosa at his home. Delarosa attempted to run from the trooper when the officer began to frisk him for weapons. Walsh deployed his electronic immobilization device (E.I.D.) on Delarosa in an attempt to take him into custody.

Troopers said Delarosa then attacked Walsh. Delarosa allegedly punched, kicked and spit on Walsh, who eventally took the suspect into custody.

Delarosa was arraigned on charges of aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, harassment, stalking and disorderly conduct. He was committed to the county prison after failing to post $75,000 straight cash bail.
