Theft of GPS unit probed in Tamaqua

Tamaqua police are investigating a theft reported to the department last Friday.

Juan Medina, of Hazleton, told police he was at the office of District Judge Stephen Bayer, rear 320 E. Broad St., Friday morning, away from his vehicle for no more than 20 minutes. When he returned to the car he noticed a Global Positioning System unit was missing. The Tom Tom GPS is valued at $180.

The vehicle had been left unlocked.
