Parking dispute leads to charges

A neighborhood dispute over parking in Tamaqua resulted in two people being cited on Wednesday.

Officers responded to the unit block of Bowe Street after receiving a complaint about a vehicle leaking oil. The vehicle in question was a yellow pickup truck owned by Kelly Dougherty of 57 1/2 Bowe St. Dougherty told the officer she was aware of the small amounts of oil and was cleaning them up with cat litter. She also said there was an ongoing dispute with neighbors concerning parking.

The officer noted that several vehicles were parked illegally with their left wheels to curb. One of the residents, Joe Carroll, began moving the cars to have their right wheels to curb and the officer left.

Within minutes officers were dispatched to return to the area for a person struck by a car. Reportedly, when Carroll began moving cars, a 17-year-old female stood in an empty space to "save" it for him. In the meantime another resident, Steven Hill, of 65 Bowe St., began moving his car forward and yelled for the teen to move. Hill and the teen differ on whether or not Hill's Hyundai struck her.

The officer cited both for disorderly conduct.
