Scripture sharing

The weekly scripture sharing sessions sponsored by St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will be held on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. in the church rectory.

CCD registration

St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, and St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, have scheduled CCD registration sessions for youths from those churches who attend Panther Valley School District schools. They are as follows:

St. Joseph Church - Saturday, Sept. 11, from 10-11:30 a.m.; Sunday, Sept. 12, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.; and Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 7-8 p.m. The sessions will be held in the church social hall.

St. Katharine Church - Drexel Social Hall, Saturday, Sept. 18, from 10-11:30 a.m.; Sunday, Sept. 19, from 9:30-11 a.m.; and Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The sessions will be held in the church social hall.

Historical society

The Summit Hill Historical Society is looking for loans/donations of historical items that can be used for displays in the windows at the museum. Among the suggested items are things about town history, art, and sports related or holiday themed artifacts.

Anyone who has items to be displayed are asked to call Maxine Vermillion, (570) 645-9772.

Food distribution

The Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food to the needy in the community on a monthly basis, with the deliveries usually taking place on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

The Summit Hill Lions Club has taken on the task of assisting the pantry with its distributions. Boxes are usually packed on a Thursday, beginning at 9 a.m. The Second Harvest truck delivery of commodities (which needs to be unloaded) usually takes place on the last Thursday of the month. Lions Club members are reminded of this service project. They can contact President Kenneth Vermillion for additional information on helping with the duties.

Borough council

The monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council will be held on Monday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Joseph Weber, president, will be in charge of the session.

Tax Collector's office

The office of Daniel J. Wynn, Lansford tax collector, will close for the day at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 2, and will reopen for regular business hours on Friday, Sept. 3.
