Trying to escape the basement
Well Week 2 is in the books and I'm still in the basement. Thanks to Thursday night's Panther Valley at Lehighton matchup, I've had one less day to prepare for this week and hopefully it will be a good thing.
Every year it seems that there is a team or two who gives me some trouble and this year, Tamaqua, Lehighton and Palmerton have all given me nightmares thus far. Hopefully this week things will change for the better.
So here goes:
PANTHER VALLEY AT LEHIGHTON - I pick the Indians in Week One and they lose. I pick against them in Week Two and they win. What gives guys? You've earned another shot ... Lehighton, 28-0.
MAHANOY AREA AT MARIAN - The Colts are a bit banged up so I have to give them a little lovin' this week ... Marian, 21-7.
JIM THORPE AT NORTH SCHUYLKILL - Olympians have done pretty well going 2-0 but have to travel to "Spartanville" to take on the Anthracite League pre-season favorite ... North Schuylkill, 28-14.
TAMAQUA AT SHENANDOAH VALLEY - The Raiders need a win badly and a trip to "Pierogiville" is just what the doctor ordered ... Tamaqua, 28-0.
WYOMING VALLEY WEST AT PLEASANT VALLEY - Bears got a big win last week, but Wyoming Valley West isn't Honesdale ... Wyoming Valley West, 21-7.
SAUCON VALLEY AT NORTHERN LEHIGH - The Bulldogs have the making of a great season going. Can't afford a letdown here ... Northern Lehigh, 35-7.
SALISBURY AT PALMERTON - Two winless clubs here that need to hit the win column. The Blue Bombers get the edge ... Palmerton, 19-7.
NORTHWESTERN AT WILSON - Bad time for the Tigers to have to visit Wilson after the Warriors had their win streak broken last week ... Wilson, 35-14.
BANGOR AT SOUTHERN LEHIGH - Slaters are one of the teams who are picked to contend for the Colonial League title. Spartans can be one of those elite with a win ... Bangor, 27-21.
PALISADES AT CATASAUQUA - Pirates have struggled offensively two weeks in a row. Roughies at least have a win ... Catasauqua, 14-7.
POCONO MOUNTAIN EAST AT WALLENPAUPACK - Cardinals aren't that bad, but the home team gets the nod here ... Wallenpaupack, 21-12.
MINERSVILLE AT SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - The Hurricanes of old showed up last week at Marian ... Schuylkill Haven, 42-0.
BLUE MOUNTAIN AT POTTSVILLE - Roll, Tide roll ... Pottsville, 28-0.
LIBERTY AT NAZARETH - The Blue Eagles are pretty good, but Liberty is just a tad better ... Liberty, 14-12.
PARKLAND AT EMMAUS - Hornets lost a toughie to Whitehall last week. This week, they face another tough foe ... Parkland, 21-13.
