Lion of the Month
Congratulations to Lions Charles Rush and Mary Jane Lucrezi, members of the Western Pocono Lions Club. They were named Lion of the Month by club President Lion Helen Koshensky for August.
Rush was honored for the volunteer work he did before and during the West End Fair. Lucrezi was honored for her various work, but especially for the time she gave for the club to be at the recent Senior Information Fair, which also took place at the West End Fairgrounds in Gilbert.
Special speaker for the evening was the club member Bob Kelsey, currently serving as Lions District 14U as District Governor.
He delineated his goals for the year, spoke of his trip to Australia to the International Convention this past summer and announced the District Rally which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 6, in Kresgeville.
Meeting set
Operation: Touch of Home will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the American Legion Post 927 home on Route 209, in Gilbert.
PV School Board
The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 23 at the district office in Brodheadsville.
Flu clinic
Monroe County Area of Aging's Prime Time Health Department and the VNA/Hospice of Monroe County will be offering flu shots around the county from Oct. 6-18.
Such a clinic will be held in Chestnuthill Township from 9 a.m. to noon, Friday, Oct. 8, at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.
Lioness meet
Western Pocono Lioness will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at the American Legion on Route 209 in Gilbert.
Community members are invited. New members are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
