The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has a variety of activities planned for September, including the monthly birthday celebration on Sept. 16.
Other activities for the month will include: Sept. 15, craft day; Sept. 20, show and tell; Sept. 21, musical entertainment with Audrey Christ; Sept. 22, make a fall hat; Sept. 24, cooking class; and Sept. 30, movie day.
In addition to weekly sing-a-longs, exercise sessions, a variety of therapies and social games, the center provides for hairstyling and manicure service. Both require advance notice. Breakfast, lunch and a snack are served daily.

Bike race
The Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission (ESRC) is organizing its annual Coal Cracker Classic Mountain Bike Race, to be held Oct. 10 in conjunction with the annual Tamaqua Heritage Day Festival. The race will take place at the Howard D. Buehler Memorial (Bungalow) Park.
Registrations will begin at 8 a.m. with the race scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
The race will feature beginner, sport and expert categories; men's, women's and single speed races; for five age groups. A bike and helmet are required, while pads are recommended. Pre-registrations are now being accepted at www.bikereg.com. Deadline for pre-registration is Oct. 6

SWNC
The South Ward Neighborhood Committee will meet this Thursday, at 7 p.m., at 230 Race St. The meeting will include updates on the Carriage Street Stairway and playground renovation projects.
The public is welcome to attend.
Recycling
Wednesday is the day for curbside recycling pickup for all residents of Tamaqua.
All recyclable items must be placed in the containers issued to each borough household. Any other containers, such as plastic bags and cardboard boxes, will be emptied and left behind.
Anyone who needs a recycling container may contact borough hall at (570) 668-3444.
Collection bins for cardboard have been moved to the Tamaqua Transfer Station on Sewage Treatment Plant Road.
Collection bins for newspaper can be found at the Tamaqua Borough Garage on East Broad Street.
Trinity UCC
The Rev. Dr. David Grant will officiate at the 10 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Trinity United Church of Christ. The service will include the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Nursery care is available during the service. Sunday church school classes meet at 8:45 a.m.
Choir rehearsal are held Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
