Luna steps down as Tamaqua softball coach
The Tamaqua Area School Board accepted the resignation of Amanda Luna as Tamaqua's head varsity softball coach during the board's meeting Tuesday evening.
Luna served as the Lady Raiders' softball coach the past three seasons, compiling a record of 26-35 (20-22 in the Schuylkill League). Her best season was in 2009, when the Raiders finished 13-8 and qualified for the District 11 playoffs. Tamaqua finsihed 4-16 with a young varsity team this past spring.
In other action, the board hired David Holmes as head junior high wrestling coach and approved Kenny Rojas and Wayde Williams as volunteer assistant coaches for boys soccer and football, respectively.
