Three from area cited by PLCB

Three area residents were cited the Wilkes-Barre enforcement office of the state liquor control board recently.

Thomas Joseph Kobal, 21, of Tamaqua, had criminal charges filed against him while Lauren Brittany Valentine, 20, of Mahanoy City, and Joseph Wayne Vanblargan, 20, of Coaldale, had summary citations issued.

According to the liquor board the three traveled to the Woodlands Inn in Plains Township, Luzerne County, on Sept. 2 to attend an under-21 night.

It is alleged that Kobal purchased a case of beer in Tamaqua and Kobal and Valentine consumed beer on their ride to the Woodlands. Valentine was observed standing in the parking lot of the inn about 10 p.m. drinking beer.

Kobal was charged with misdemeanor charges of furnishing alcohol to minors. Valentine was issued a citation for underage drinking and Vanblargan, the driver, was cited for underage transportation of alcohol.
