Tamaqua driver facing DUI count

A Tamaqua driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of a controlled substance following an incident in Rush Township.

Township police said about 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20, they stopped Mark Keeran, along Fairview St. Officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Keeran was placed under arrest and transported to the Pottsville Hospital for a blood test.

In addition to the DUI charge Keeran is also facing charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
