Three-vehicle crash in Schuylkill

Published November 01. 2010 05:00PM

A three vehicle, rear-end type crash, was reported in Schuylkill County. The crash occurred about 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, along SR924, two-tenths of a mile north of Frackville in Gilberton.

State police at Frackville said Leonard Sweet, 58, of Shenandoah, was southbound and observed a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled, walking along the right berm.

Sweet suddenly stopped in his lane of travel to assist the motorist. This caused Barbara Fowler, 46, of Barnesville, traveling behind Sweet, to make an evasive maneuver to go around him but could not and her 2001 Oldsmobile Alero struck the rear of Sweet's 1991 Chevrolet Lumina. Thomas Gower Jr., 70, of Girardville, traveling behind Fowler, also attempted to avoid a collision but could not and his 2011 Hyundai Sonata hit the rear of the Lumina.

No one was injured but damages were heavy to the Lumina and Sonata and minor to the Alero.
