A deer was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that occurred in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Amanda N. Nuss, 29, of Hazleton, was driving a 2002 Toyota Echo northbound on SR924 in East Union Township, about 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, when a deer entered the road in front of her. She swerved to avoid the animal and the car struck an embankment along the west berm. The vehicle came to rest facing west in the southbound lane.

Nuss and a nine-year-old female passenger both sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Hazleton General Hospital for treatment.
