Vehicle stop leads to drug charges
A vehicle stop in Monroe County led to the arrest of the driver on drug charges.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, officers stopped a vehicle along Long Pond Road in Tunkhannock Township, for a motor vehicle code violation no inspection sticker.
At the stop the driver and two passengers were observed moving around within the vehicle suspiciously. A K-9 dog alerted police of narcotics in the car.
A search was conducted and a small amount of marijuana and baggies were found in the vehicle. The driver was identified as Devin Coppin, 20, of Tobyhanna. He was placed under arrest and searched prior to being placed into the patrol car. Police said Coppin had placed a small dime bag of suspected marijuana inside his pants which fell to the ground during the search.
Coppin was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.
