Icy roads blamed for two crashes
An icy Monroe County road was blamed for two crashes that occurred Tuesday, Dec. 6. State police at Fern Ridge said the crashes occurred about 6:25 a.m. along Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township.
Troopers said Judith P. Franks, 52, of Jim Thorpe, was eastbound operating a 2003 Ford F150 pickup truck when the vehicle traveled over a icy patch causing her to lose control. The truck traveled off the road and struck an embankment causing it to roll onto the driver's side.
Franks was not injured.
Troopers said Linda Patrylak, 55, of Blakeslee, was eastbound in a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee when it hit a icy spot causing her to lose control. The Jeep spun out-of-control and struck an embankment off the north berm.
Patrylak sustained a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention.
