PV Senior Center

The Panther Valley Senior Center lists its activities for the month of December. The Christmas party will be held on Friday, Dec. 10 at 11 a.m.

On Dec. 13 everyone will play Deal or No Deal at 11 a.m.; Dec. 14 is line dancing; Dec. 15 celebration of birthdays and play bingo at 11 a.m.; Dec. 16

Pictionary at 11 a.m.; Dec. 17 shopping on CCCT at 9:30 a.m., but center will remain open.

Dec. 20 is bingo at 11 a.m.; Dec. 21 is line dancing; Dec. 22 is Scattergories at 11 a.m.; Dec. 23 Christmas movie and popcorn at 10:30 a.m. The center is closed on Dec. 24.

Dec. 27 horse racing at 11 a.m.; Dec. 28 line dancing; Dec. 29 pay bingo at 11 a.m.; Dec. 30 New Year's Eve party at 11 a.m.; Dec. 31 center is closed.

Meed's Methodist Church

Free haircuts will be given at the church on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On Wednesday, Dec. 29 the free community dinner will be served from 5-7 p.m. at the church.

Summit Hill

Borough council

The Summit Hill Borough Council will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Joseph Weber, president, will be in charge of the session.

Legion to meet

The monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held on Monday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home. Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session.

A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.

Remembering Sister

Sr. Mary Florence Hawe, former teacher, principal and pastoral assistant for the Summit Hill Catholic community, is a guest at the Sisters of Mercy Convent. Christmas wishes can be sent to her at 560 Hemlock Road, Merion, Pa. 19066.

Christmas schedule

The Rev. James Burdess, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, has announced the parish's Christmas season schedule of services as follows:

Christmas Masses - Friday, Dec. 24, 4 and 9 p.m.; and Christmas Day, 9 a.m.

For the Feast of the Holy Family, there will be Sunday (Dec. 26) morning Masses only. They will be celebrated at 9 and 11 a.m.

New Year's Masses - Friday, Dec. 31, 6:30 p.m.; and New Year's Day, 9 a.m.

For the Feast of the Epiphany, there will be Sunday (Jan. 2) morning Masses only. They will be celebrated at 9 and 11 a.m.

Lansford

Chimney boxes

The Outreach Group of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will once again sponsor its Chimney Boxes program for the Christmas season. Boxes have been placed in the vestibule of the church for persons desiring to donate items that will be given to the residents on the fifth floor of St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale.

Suggested items include large print crossword puzzle books, note pads, pens, pencils, combs and brushes, hair picks, thin white socks for women, loose fitting white socks for men, non-skid slipper socks, baseball caps and jewelry.
