VFW party

The annual Christmas party of the Ladies Auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial VFW Post 8008 will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 14, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Lengyel's Restaurant.

Those planning to attend should contact Maureen Hirochek at (570) 669-9578 as soon as possible to make their reservations. Deadline for reservations is Dec. 10.

A brief business meeting will be held before dinner, with President Amanda Breiner presiding.

NCFC auxiliary party

The New Columbus Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will hold its Christmas party at the Lantern on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.

A $10 exchange gift is optional. Gerry McConnon is the president.

Summit Hill

Methodist Charge

The schedule for the Summit Hill/Coaldale United Methodist Charge for Sunday, Dec. 5, is as follows:

Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, will officiate at both services. The adult Sunday school will meet at 10 a.m. in the Coaldale church.

Birthday wishes

Anna Drozd, a former Summit Hill resident, celebrated her 100th birthday on Dec. 2.

Birthday wishes can be sent to her at 1420 Bunratty Court, High Point, N.C. 27260.

Lansford

Christmas concert

The students at Our Lady of the Angels Academy band, Lansford, will present a Christmas concert on Friday, Dec. 10, at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford.

Family, friends and guests are invited to attend.

To entertain seniors

Members of the Panther Valley Golden Age Club will be entertained by students from Our Lady of the Angels, Academy, Lansford, at their next meeting on Monday, Dec. 13.

The session will take place at 1:30 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church hall, Summit Hill. Tom Down, a member of the faculty, directs the group.

Youths baptized

George and Brooke Higgins, children of George and Jill (Meeker) Higgins, were baptized into St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, on Sunday, Nov. 28.

Chimney boxes

The Outreach Group of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will once again sponsor its Chimney Boxes program for the Christmas season. Boxes have been placed in the vestibule of the church for persons desiring to donate items that will be given to the residents on the fifth floor of St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale.

Suggested items include large print crossword puzzle books, note pads, pens, pencils, combs and brushes, hair picks, thin white socks for women, loose fitting white socks for men, non-skid slipper socks, baseball caps and jewelry.

Coaldale

First Congregational Church

Morning Worship will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, followed by Sunday School for all ages.

The church board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6.

Confirmation class will begin meeting every Sunday at 12:30 p.m. beginning Dec. 5
