Adult day care
The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has a variety of activities planned for the month of January, including: Jan. 3, communion; Jan. 5, bingo and craft day; Jan. 12, sing-along with Audrey Christ; Jan. 17, cooking class; Jan. 19, Salvation Army visit; Jan. 20, visit from St. Jerome's kindergarten class; Jan. 21, hat day; Jan. 24, visit from Skye the therapy dog; Jan. 26, monthly birthday party; Jan. 28, pancake day.
In addition to weekly sing-alongs and social games, hairstyling and manicure services are available. Both require advance notice.
Daily activities include exercise, reality orientation, remotivational and reminiscent therapy, as well as breakfast, lunch and a snack.

Calvary UM
The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.

Trinity UCC - Christmas Eve service at 7:30 p.m. with Holy Communion, candles and carols;
New Life Assembly of God - Christmas Eve Candlelight service at 7 p.m. and one worship service on Dec. 26, at 11 a.m.;
Primitive Methodist - Christmas Eve Candlelight service, with Holy Communion, at 7 p.m.;
St. Peter's Union - Christmas Eve services at 2 p.m., 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.;
St. John's Lutheran - candlelight services on Christmas Eve, a family service at 7 p.m. and a festival service at 10 p.m.;
Bethany EC - Christmas Eve services at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.;
Zion Lutheran - Christmas Eve Candlelight services at 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. and the Dec. 26 service, with Holy Communion, will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m.;
St. Jerome's - Christmas Eve at 4 p.m. (children's Mass), at 6 p.m. and at midnight; Christmas Day at 10 a.m.;
St. John UCC - Christmas Eve Quiet Communion at 4 p.m., regular services at 7:30 and 10 p.m.;
Salem United Methodist - Christmas Eve at 7 p.m.
SS. Peter and Paul - Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. and Christmas Day at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.;
First United Methodist - Christmas Eve at 9 p.m.
Zion Lewistown - Christmas Eve at 4 p.m.
Zion Lewistown
Zion Church, Lewistown Valley, and Christ Church, McKeansburg, will have a joint service this Sunday, at 10 a.m. in McKeansburg. The service will include a Christmas Cantata.
