Three Tamaqua Area High School band members have been selected after an intense audition in December for the 2010 PMEA District 10 Band to be held on February 11, 12 and 13 at Fleetwood High School.

Seniors, Drew Bonner and Lauren Ward and junior, Steven Christ will attend the festival with Drew playing in the baritone section; Lauren in the flute section and Steven playing Eb soprano clarinet.

The band will be under the guest baton of Professor Daniel Neuenschwander who is professor of music at Kutztown University.

The District 10 band is comprised of some of the best instrumentalists from a seven county area of east and east central Pennsylvania and the 150-piece ensemble was selected from over 850 auditioned students in December.

Lauren Ward was also selected for the District 10 Orchestra Festival to be held January 14, 15 and 16 to be held at Liberty High School in Bethlehem.

The orchestra will be guest conducted by Dr. Paul Salerni, Professor of Music at Lehigh University.
