Two injured near Country Junction

Two persons sustained minor injuries Tuesday afternoon when involved in a crash along SR209 in Towmensing Township, Carbon County. The crash occurred just after 3 p.m. in front of the Country Junction. State police at Lehighton said Adam C. Berger, 17, of Bowmanstown, was driving 2002 Dodge Neon northbound when his vehicle went onto the berm. He tried to re-enter the road and lost control. The Dodge began to spin counter-clockwise and entered the southbound lane where it struck a 2007 Hyundai SantaFe in the front with the passenger side of the Dodge. The Hyundai was operated by Kristen J. Matweecha, 32, of Hazleton. Both drivers were taken to the Palmerton Hospital by Palmerton ambulance. Troopers said Berger was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
