Tamaqua fire and health officials were summoned by county emergency dispatchers to the former Eames Bakery building on Saturday evening for a report of a collapse or partial collapse at the site. The large, three-story building borders Washington, Elm and North Railroad streets. Police have placed barricades along the sidewalks and parking area on Elm and Washington streets in the interest of public safety. The building's owner was notified and reportedly was on-site Monday. The building once served as the W. F. Taubel Hosiery Mills, a major employer in the community.
