Many tractor trailers jackknifed or got stuck on slick snow covered roads throughout our area. At one time, five tractor trailers were stuck on the "mile hill" located passed Hometown on SR-309 north. State Police had to control traffic while Hopes Towing of Tamaqua had the challenging job of freeing all the tractor trailers from the slick hill. Most of these truckers had no where to park or travel due to the closing of I-81 and unavailability of snow-free parking. Reportedly, SR-309 north was closed for the duration. Pictured is a tractor trailer driver trying to free his stuck truck from the slick "mile hill."
