Dave Mason returns to Penn's Peak, Thur.

One of the most critically acclaimed musicians to date and a co-founder of rock super-group Traffic, singer/songwriter/guitarist Dave Mason has finalized his most personal effort in years with the release of a solo album, 26 Letters - 12 Notes in 2008.

Mason, whose career spans over 37 years, makes a return appearance to Penn's Peak on Thursday. The concert starts at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $22 in advance and $27 at the door.

Mason has truly left his mark on the music industry. He was a producer, a performer and a songwriter, not to mention being one of rock's great guitar players.

At the early age of 18, he teamed up with Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood and formed the band Traffic. A year later Dave would pen what has become a rock and roll anthem with "Feelin' Alright."

Well over 48 artists have recorded this song, but the best-known version is by Joe Cocker.

Soon after this success, Dave went off on a solo career in the United States and his first album, Alone Together, struck gold and became a rock classic.

He recorded five more albums, four of which received gold albums. His most famous Top Ten single is "We Just Disagree" off of the platinum selling album Let It Flow.

Not only has he accomplished greatness during his solo career, but he has also had the privilege to perform on various other band albums such as the Rolling Stones, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and one of the most famous, Jimi Hendrix in which Dave is featured playing acoustic guitar on "All Along The Watchtower."

Dave also spent two years touring with Fleetwood Mac, the only band he formally joined, and he can be heard on the songs "Blow By Blow" and "I Wonder Why" off of the album Time.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a founding member of Traffic and currently, with Ravi Sawhney, they have opened an electric guitar company.

Along with Dave he has Gerald Johnson on bass, Johnne Sambataro on guitar, Alvino Bennett on drums and Anthony Patler on keyboards.
