Named to Phi Theta Kappa and dean's list

Derek A. Sander, Bowmans-town, has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2009 semester at Lehigh Carbon Community College.
On Sunday, Feb. 28, he was inducted into the Alpha Omicron Alpha chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society for two-year colleges.
His outstanding academic record at LCCC made him eligible to join this prestigious organization.
Derek plans to continue his education at a four-year college, where he will major in elementary education.
He is a 2007 graduate of Palmerton Area High School and is the son of Kathy and Richard Sander of Bowmanstown, and the grandson of Lucille P. Sander and the late Anthony Sander, Bowmanstown; and Celestine and Gordon Chandler.
