The Weiser Forest District was presented with the 2009 statewide WHIP award for accumulating the highest number of fire prevention credits among its volunteer Forest Fire Wardens. Wardens accumulate points for each Smokey Bear Programs, fire prevention presentations, and other outreach efforts to spread the fire prevention message in their communities. This recognition effort is entitled Wardens Helping in Prevention (WHIP). The award was presented by John Bearer (Center) from the Division of Forest Fire Protection to District Forester, Mark Deibler (Left) and Assistant District Forest Robert Kurilla both from the Weiser Forest District.
