Local student attains dean's list at Ithaca

Rachel Sverchek of Lehighton has attained the dean's list for the fall semester at Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY.

Rachel has attained the dean's list every semester at Ithaca since beginning her studies in the fall of 2008. Rachel is a sophomore majoring in international business at the Park School of Business. Ithaca College is located in the Finger Lakes Region of New York and is consistently ranked high in the U.S. News and World Reports College Review.

This past fall Rachel was inducted into the College's Oracle Society. This is an honor society recognizing first year students who have completed two semesters, rank in the top 10 percent of their class, have exhibited leadership potential and are actively involved in the college community.

This spring, Rachel is currently studying abroad at Ithaca's London Centre, where she is experiencing immersion in the British culture. Both with her curriculum and on her own, she has visited the following areas; Stonehenge, the city of Bath, Liverpool, Stratford on Avon, Windsor Castle, Edinburgh, Scotland and Paris, France. She has also visited Madrid and Barcelona, Spain, Amsterdam and Prague.

Rachel was recently notified that she has qualified for induction into the Beta Gamma Sigma honors society, an international honors society that recognizes high achievement for students in their respective schools of business.

Rachel was the salutatorian of the Lehighton Area High School Class of 2008 and is the daughter of Mark and Anne Sverchek of Lehighton and the granddaughter of the late John & Veronica Sverchek of Lansford and the late William and Anna Corkill of Jim Thorpe.
