Marian girls, N'western matmen pick up victories

The Marian girls and Northwestern wrestlers pulled out victories in local scholastic sports action on Monday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Marian-Weatherly

The Fillies darted out to a 13-0 lead after one frame and never looked back en route to a 38-22 win over Weatherly.

Kaysi McLaughlin led the winners with 12 points.

For the Lady Wreckers, Alexa Figas had six points.

Marian also posted a 34-22 JV win with Kelly Shober scoring 14.

Northwestern edged Bangor, 33-30, in a Colonial League match..

Dylan Long and Eddie Faust earned pins for the Tigers, while David Tirpak's major decision and Robert Clymer's tech fall supported the winning effort.

Tamaqua dropped a tight 26-24 decision to North Schuylkill.

Adam Bates and Chris Hartung had four points each for the Raiders.

7TH GRADE

Tamaqua-No. Schuylkill

Tamaqua cruised to a 52-18 victory over North Schuylkill.

Brett Kosciolek was top gun for Tamaqua with 15 points. Tyler Skripko and Jake Humes added nine points apiece.
