Schuylkill man jailed for drugs

Published January 05. 2010 05:00PM

A Schuylkill County resident was jailed on Monday charged with various drug charges.

State police at Frackville said Frank John Dagostino, 28, of Shenandoah, was stopped along SR924 in Shenandoah about 1:15 p.m. for operating a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. During the stop Dagostino was found to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence (DUI).

A search of the vehicle was made and found was a large quantity of marijuana, later determined to be 365 grams, and other items indicating delivery of a controlled substance. Dagostino also was found to have $2,700 in cash on him, which also is an indicator of drug sale activity.

A search warrant was later obtained for a motel room in Sheppton, East Union Township, which was being used by Dagostino. Found in the room was an additional amount of cash, marijuana and packaging material.

Dagostino was taken before duty District Judge Carol Pankake, of Tremont, on charges of possession with intent to deliver, possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI of a controlled substance and several summary violations. He was lodged in the county prison in Pottsville in lieu of $15,000 cash bail.

Troopers said they also plan to move for forfeiture of about $3,000 in cash and to seize Dagostino's 2005 Dodge Neon.
