Press conference in Shenandoah for Ex-Eagles owner Wolman

A former Shenandoah native has written a tell-all book about his ownership of the Philadelphia Eagles and how he bankrolled the money to buy the Flyers for Ed Snider and built the Spectrum where the 76ers and Flyers played.

Jerry Wolman will launch his soon-to-be-released book in Shenandoah, Friday, January 22. "The World's Richest Man" is the never-been-told true story of Jerry Wolman.

The book will hit the newsstands next month.

Wolman wanted to come back to his roots, Shenandoah, to announce his book release, the same way he came back to his hometown when he announced that he had purchased the Philadelphia Eagles in 1963.

"I love Shenandoah, and where I was born and raised," Wolman said. "There is no better place than my hometown. I love the community, love the people there and I always tell my friends where I came from Shenandoah. I'm proud of it."

The first printing of the book is a collector's edition. Wolman will personally sign the book, which will feature a special designed cover.

An assembly will be held at Shenandoah Valley High School Auditorium, and the public is invited to attend. The proceedings get underway at 1:50 p.m. and those wishing to attend should arrive early to pass through school security.

Wolman, who currently resides in Chevy Chase, Md. will address the student body at Shenandoah Valley. Joe and Richard Bockel, who co-authored the book with Wolman, will also be on hand.

Plans are in the making for Wolman to appear on Larry King's show, along with a potential movie to be made in Hollywood.

Wolman's public relations department has been in touch with the producers in Los Angeles. Scenes for the movie are expected to be shot in Shenandoah, once final plans have been arranged and contracts signed.

"We've been in touch with people in LA and they are very receptive to the idea of the movie, and it has drawn a lot of attention," said George Polgar, president of GT Marketing Communications, Philadelphia.

Next month, Wolman will hold a news conference in Philadelphia where he will meet with the media and discuss his book.
