Driver cited after Carbon crash
A driver was cited following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 9:04 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, along Reservoir Road in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.
State police at Lehighton said Adam E. Augustine, 20, of Palmerton, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Impala southbound and failed to negotiate a right curve. The car crossed over into the opposing lane of travel, left the road and struck a tree, speed limit sign and then landed in a ditch.
Augustine was not injured but his passenger, Amanda L. Seliga, 23, of Jim Thorpe, sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene.
Troopers cited Augustine for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Troopers also reported investigating a crash about 5:49 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17, along Flyte Road, in Ross Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Robert A. Heller, 45, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer eastbound and was attempting to negotiate a curve when he began to lose control on the icy road. The vehicle began to slide off the road and struck a tree. After hitting the tree the vehicle continued across the both lanes and struck an embankment along the berm.
Heller was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed.
