Schuylkill man jailed for assault

A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Saturday following a domestic assault incident.

State police at Frackville said Daniel Tejeda, 25 ,of 404 W. Atlantic St., Shenandoah, was charged for assaulting Yesi Menjivar, same address, about 5:25 a.m. Troopers responded to the home and was told by Menjivar that Tejeda struck her. Troopers noted visible signs of an assault.

Tejeda was taken into custody and arraigned before duty District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon, and was committed to the county prison in lieu of $10,000 percentage bail.

In another incident in the Shenandoah area, a 17-year-old male juvenile was charged with harassment following an incident about 11:11 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24. Troopers said Joyce Ann Barowski, 48, arrived at her parents' home at 409 Texas Ave., Shenandoah Heights, West Mahanoy Township, heavily intoxicated. She then began telling her son, who lives there, to take the garbage out of his bedroom. The son became upset because of the condition of his mother and said he was going to a friends' house.

He pushed his way past his mother causing redness to her wrist as he pushed her aside. He was cited and released.
