Lansford man awaiting trial released on a nominal bail

Mark Wesley Whildin, 20, a Lansford man awaiting trail in Schuylkill County Court on criminal charges, had a hearing Friday, Jan. 29, before Judge Charles M. Miller on being released from the county prison on a nominal bail.

His counsel, Public Defender Attorney Christopher Hobbs, argued to the court he was entitled to reasonable bail. The district attorney's office was concerned about where he would be living.

Miller reduced the bail to $1,000 unsecured bail, which means he does not post any money, however, if he fails to appear for any court appearance he will be liable to pay $1,000. The court also determined he should reside at 218 W. Kline Ave., Lansford, and may not relocate without written permission from the district attorney's office.

Other restrictions imposed by the court include:

He shall not possess nor consume alcoholic beverages, controlled substance or drug paraphernalia; he shall not travel outside of Pennsylvania without written permission from the district attorney; he shall submit to random urinalysis or other drug testing at the request of the adult probation department; he shall secure and maintain gainful full time employment within 30 days and if not to notify immediately the probation department and he shall follow all the standard bail requirements.

Whildin faces charges of identity theft, terroristic threats, theft by unlawful taking and possession of drug paraphernalia.
