Published January 06. 2010 05:00PM

This past weekend the Wilkes University men's basketball team participated in the Wilkes-Barre Challenge at King's College, defeating both Carthage and John Jay on consecutive days, largely due to the excellent play of senior Tom Kresge.

Kresge, a Pleasant Valley High School graduate, recorded a double-double in the Colonels' first game against No. 23 Carthage, scoring 19 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in a convincing 72-61 victory. The next day he hit on seven of 11 shots from the floor for 18 points, while pulling down nine rebounds. He also had three steals, two assists and no turnovers on the weekend. For his efforts he was named to the All-Tournament team.

For his performance, Kresge was named Freedom Conference Player of the Week. This is the second time this season that Kresge has received the honored.
