Tamaqua girls grab easy win over Pottville
The Tamaqua girls came away with a win, while Jim Thorpe, Panther Valley and Weatherly all lost in girls basketball action on Monday night.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Pottsville-Tamaqua
Tamaqua held Pottsville to just 11 points in the second half and went on to win easily, 63-41.
Amy Zehner recorded a double-double (19 points and 10 rebounds) for the Lady Raiders (14-1). She is now 16 points shy of scoring 1,000 for her career.
Also scoring in double figures for Tamaqua was Kayla Hope (13) and Allie Updike (10).
Tamaqua also won the JV contest, 42-41.

Kelly Fidler scored 17 points and added 11 rebounds to give the Cardinals (14-1, 7-1) a 64-45 victory over the Lady Olympians (5-8,2-6).
Celeste Robinson finished with 12 points for Jim Thorpe.
Pine Grove also won the JV game by a 50-8 score.

North Schuylkill jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back, as the Lady Spartans went on to win 47-23.
Kristi Yesalusky led North Schuylkill with 12 points.
The Panthers' high scorer was Kristyn Gates with seven points. Breanna Cullen added six.
Panther Valley is now 4-10 (1-6).

Pleasant Valley held on to beat Stroudsburg in a tight one, 35-34.
Marquis Brown had 13 points and 20 rebounds for the Bears (7-3). Jon Weaver added 10.
The Mounties were led by Jacob Battle's 13 points.

Shenandoah knocked off Weatherly, 47-36.
