Summit Hill
SHCIO to meet
The Summit Hill Community Improvement Organization will hold its monthly meeting tonight at 7 o'clock in the Summit Hill Borough Hall.
Debra Ranck, president, will be in charge of the meeting.
Legion to meet
The monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held on Monday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home. Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session.
A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.
Church meeting
The Parish and Finance Council of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. in the church hall.
Dues are payable
Members of the Summit Hill Lions Club are reminded dues for 2010 are now being accepted. They can be sent to the club at P.O. Box 123, Summit Hill, Pa. 18250, or can be forwarded to secretary Ann Yusella.
Persons interested in becoming members of the service club can contact its president, Dr. Kenneth Vermillion.
Sign-ups slated
The Summit Hill/Nesquehoning Little League has scheduled sign-ups for Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 6-8 p.m. in both the Summit Hill and Nesquehoning Borough buildings. Registrations will also be accepted on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. to noon at both buildings.
Catholic schools
Our Lady of the Angels Academy, Lansford, is celebrating Catholic Schools Week this week.
Today, the school recognized "Senior Angels" and community helpers during a program.
During an assembly tomorrow at 1 p.m., the school will pay tribute to its students.
Recreation commission
The monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Recreation Commission will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. in the borough. Anyone interested in helping to plan and promote recreational activities for the youth of the community is invited to attend.
There are current vacancies on the commission. Persons interested in serving on the board can contact any borough council member.
